It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, but a single video of the offroad vehicle ‘Pinkie’ scaling Saint Lucia’s historic Powder Magazine sparked a passionate conversation on the importance of our historic buildings.

The Saint Lucia National Trust and the crew from Offroad Junkies 246, met at the Trust Offices, on February 24, 2026, and what started as a moment of contention is turning into a mission of collaboration. The meeting discussions explored the importance of conserving not only Saint Lucia’s history and heritage but also that of Barbados and the wider Caribbean.

The Trust and Offroad Junkies 246 crew agreed that conservation must not be just a talking point — it’s a value that we as Caribbean people must all actively live. Their track record in Barbados reflects a genuine commitment to protecting the spaces we treasure, from beach clean-ups and turtle monitoring. They have emphasized that there was never any intention to disrespect or damage an important heritage structure.

With a strong and growing social media following, Offroad Junkies 246 has welcomed the Trust’s recommendation to use their platform as a force for good — championing conservation, responsible exploration, and the sustainable use of our region’s irreplaceable heritage sites.

Taking this commitment a step further, Offroad Junkies 246 will partner with the Trust to develop and install signage at the Powder Magazine, while also participating in future conservation initiatives during their visits to Saint Lucia.
